Security

RBQ Licence Security

The security, or surety bond, is a financial guarantee that every licensed contractor must deposit to assure performance of their contractual obligations to clients. The licence security is mandatory for all contractors.*

A competitive advantage

The security is an incentive for consumers to hire contractors with valid licences, and strengthens your professional image. The security amounts required by the RBQ are:

  • $20,000 for contractors in one or more Schedule II and III subclasses;
  • $40,000 for contractors in one or more Schedule I subclasses.

When you become a member of the ACQ network, you receive your licence security free of charge.

Security for fraud and embezzlement

The ACQ offers the security for fraud and embezzlement to contractors accredited under the Garantie de Construction Résidentielle (GCR). You must request if from your regional association. The amount of the security for fraud and embezzlement required by the GCR is $20,000.
